Calendars

Each year, I am directly commissioned by the committee of Gurdwara Singh Sabha Bergamo to independently design and produce their annual calendar, taking full responsibility for the entire project, from initial concept development and creative direction to date verification, print production and final delivery.

My creative process begins with developing a distinctive visual theme, often inspired by significant events, Sikh history or cultural heritage. Alongside the design, I carefully research, organise and verify important Sikh occasions, ensuring accurate alignment between the Gregorian and Nanakshahi calendars, including Sangrand (the beginning of a month), Masseya (the moonless or dark night) and Puranmashi (the full moon).

I primarily use Adobe InDesign to develop structured layouts, maintain typographic consistency and efficiently manage changes across multiple pages. Adobe Illustrator supports the creation and integration of vector graphics, logos and icons, while Photoshop is used for image editing, retouching and visual compositions.

Beyond the creative work, I personally oversee the technical preparation of print-ready artwork, coordinate the printing process and manage the final delivery of the completed calendars.

This ongoing commission reflects my ability to independently manage a complete design project, combining creative direction, cultural understanding, meticulous attention to detail and professional print production to deliver a meaningful and functional publication year after year.
